Are you interested in learning more about education and especially about your child’s educational rights?
Speaking Out! is a workshop designed for parents and caregivers, educational professionals, and community members who are interested in learning about children’s educational rights in Saskatchewan and ways to effectively communicate with schools.
This informative workshop is coming to a community near you. In 2017, the workshop was facilitated in Yorkton, Regina, Saskatoon, Prince Albert. Its next stop is in Meadow Lake on February 7th, 2018. In addition to the workshop, the two facilitators, Elaine and Louise, will be providing highlights of the workshop and responding to comments and questions on Facebook.
Some information about the facilitators:
At Elaine’s core, she is a teacher. Throughout her diverse roles as a classroom teacher, school principal, guidance counselor, superintendent, Director of Education and Director of Children’s Services at the Ministry of Education, she has taught, mentored, built strong relationships with families and facilitated individual, group and systemic change.
Louise is an occupational therapist. As one of the first occupational therapists in schools, Louise has worked with numerous families to foster growth and development, facilitate accessibility and support inclusive education. Louise has continued this work as a Student Services Coordinator, at the Ministry of Education and Saskatchewan Society of Occupational Therapists and now works in private practice in Regina.
Both presenters bring a wealth of experience working in the education sector and they look forward to highlighting information from the workshop online and continuing the conversation by responding to your questions and comments.
